Chapter 7

Eli felt like shit as he stood at the bleachers on the yard. He hated to have to give Kim an ultimatum. They had gone back and forth with Kim sticking to her guns about not bringing any more balloons of heroin to him through the visiting room. Eli decided it was time to go hard on her. He told Kim if she did not bring him in the drugs then he’d just have his baby’s momma, Crystal, do it for him.

He knew it was wrong of him to place Kim in this position, but he had a goal he wanted to reach. A goal that Kim would also benefit from being that she was his girl. Without her bringing him the product, there wouldn’t even be a number to chase. Eli knew that right now she was resisting, but when she touched that first one hundred grand, she’d jump right back in with both feet. He was just praying that his threat to get Crystal to bring balloons inside to him would work. Crystal might be from the hood, but she was the scariest bitch he knew. Once he took her to New York with him to pick up some cocaine. His intentions were to pay her a thousand dollars to carry it back. He also wanted to do some shopping for their daughter on 125th Street. She refused to carry the cocaine and was so nervous that she wouldn’t even sit next to Eli on the train ride back.

Eli couldn’t help but laugh as he thought about that day. Life for him was great on the other side of the wall. He had so many great memories. Now he was caged in, stressed about his girl bringing him a package to push. He was already out of work so a lot of people were going to be dope sick and hungry. He did have a few men that owed him money. One in particular was out of Washington D.C. named Mutt. He owed Eli two grand for four grams of heroin. A bill like that could become an issue, which was why he was out on the yard waiting to meet with his shot caller, K.V. He still had about five minutes to wait before they called the move and he came from A Unit on the north side. Eli wanted to get out there early so that he could peep the scene. It’s only a meeting but one could never know how things could take a turn for the worst.

“Ten minute move for the north side. Ten minute move for the north side,” an officer shouted over the intercom.

Eli watched as K.V. walked out of the first court along with Mutt and another guy he did not know. Judging by his size and the mean mug on his face, he was most likely K.V.’s bodyguard. Elysha looked around at Jeff, Gates, Goon and a few other homies that he had positioned in certain key spots. As his eyes connected with each of them, they each shook their heads to acknowledge they were on point.
